There are 3 types of Extinguisher ......
used for wood/paper fires
used for flammable fuel fires
used for electical fires only
pull pin
aim low at base of the fire
squeeze the handle
sweep from left to right
try to push the fire into a corner to smother the fire out.
When used properly, fire extinguishers can save lives and property by extinguishing or containing small fires.
It is recommended that in a home or car that you use a dry chemical extinguisher.
The operator must know how to operate the extinguisher. Directions can't be read during an emergency.
The extinguisher must be within easy reach, working order, and fully charged.
The extinguisher should be placed by all exit so the escape route is not blocked by the fire.
Be sure the extinguisher is the right class for the fire. Water extinguishers can not be used on Class B and C fires.
The extinguisher should be large enough. Some can discharge in as few as eight seconds.
