When to call 911

• If your house or a neighbor house is on fire you should call 911
• If you or someone else is sick and need an ambulance you should call 911
• If you come up on a motor vehicle accident you should stop to see if anyone is injured before calling 911
• If a plane crashes or there is an explosion then you should call 911
• If there a wildland fire that no one is around to control it you should call 911
• If someone breaks in on you or robs you, you should call 911
• If someone is lost you should call 911
• Use good judgement when calling 911

When not to call 911  

• If you lost your dog you should not call 911
• If there is a cat up in a tree you should not call 911
• If you want a phone number you should not call 911 but you should dail 1411 for information
• If you need a ride call a taxi, do not call 911
• Remember if you call in something that is not an emergency you have tied up that line and someone else may be trying to get help, and may have a delay of getting help if the calltaker is taking you non-emergency call.
